Lawrence Talbot (Del Toro) has been estranged from his father, Sir John Talbot (Anthony Hopkins) since childhood, but when his brother disappears in sinister circumstances, the elder Talbot returns to his family's estate to investigate the dark mystery that seems to envelop Talbot Hall and its inhabitants.
Hugo Weaving appears as a Scotland Yard detective with a keenly suspicious mind. The film's impressive make-up and prosthetics are by award-winning special effects artist Rick Baker.
The score is by long-time Tim Burton collaborator, composer Danny Elfman (Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas).
