| He Got Game |
Lee and cinematographer Malik Hassan Sayeed pull out all stylistic stops in Lee's underrated drama about Jake Shuttlesworth (Denzel Washington), a prison inmate granted a temporary release in order to persuade his son, the nation's top college basketball recruit, to enrol in the prison governor's alma mater.
Lee's unflinching exploration of the pressures and seductions laid at the feet of young athletes doesn't overwhelm the poignant father-son relationship at the heart of the film.
Every frame and set-up is ravishing to the eye, with a driving soundtrack by Public Enemy. Imported print.
