Some of the most memorable spaces in film history are those that portray complex power relations between characters. Such spaces are designed to overwhelm through scale, perspective and contradiction. They are impenetrable environments, designed to reinforce feelings of control, surveillance and apprehension. Films represented in this section include Metropolis (1927), The Apartment (1960), Das Experiment (2001) and Minority Report (2002)
