ACMI offers a venue with a difference with a suite of multifaceted spaces available for hire. At this cultural hub in the heart of Melbourne and Federation Square, we can tailor your catering, audio visual and other event requirements within a unique architectural environment.
For launches, conferences and all kinds of celebrations we can create a memorable experience by combining your event program with a visit to the cinemas or our renowned international exhibitions.

The ACMI Cinemas are ideal for:
- film festivals
- one-off screenings
- AGMs, conferences and seminars
- multimedia screenings and events.
The ACMI Cinemas provide an ideal venue for production industry events and screenings including:
- film and video digital double head
- pre-release tests
- preview screenings
- cast and crew screenings.
Clients can extend their booking to include use of the The Cube or the Lightwell for launches, catered events, cocktail parties and speeches prior to or following events in the cinemas.
The Cube
The Cube is a unique event space for functions, presentations and special occasions.
Studio 1
ACMI's Studio 1 is a comprehensive production / conferencing facility available for hire. This multi-use venue boasts a technical infrastructure able to support demanding screen-based and live events.
Studio 1 is suitable for conferences, seminars, presentations and webcasts.
Gallery 1
Gallery 1 is a unique exhibition space that features major thematic exhibitions of the most innovative and imaginative screen-based art.
Created by converting two underground railway platforms, ACMI's Gallery 1 is a spectacularly vast subterranean space, perfect for the event with a difference!
Lightwell
An expansive space with a bay window looking out on Flinders Street and a soaring atrium that extends upwards three stories in height towards a glass ceiling. Perfect for launches, cocktail parties, and all kinds of celebrations.
Services
ACMI staff provide a number of specialised services to assist clients with the successful management of screenings and events: Event Management ACMI staff can provide expert advice to clients to assist with their event management.
Technical Support Technical service and advice is available to our clients to assist with the preparation, set up and delivery of event requirements.
Customer Service Support Hire of the ACMI venues includes the provision of a Visitor Services Officer to assist with the set up and running of your event.
Ticketing ACMI can assist with ticketing and infomation services for your event including bookings, pre-sales and online sales.
Catering Packages are available which can also be tailored to your requirements.
