Burton discusses the ten-year development of The Nightmare Before Christmas, the poem it was based on, and Danny Elfman's memorable score. One of the things Burton finds interesting is the way the film's popularity has snowballed over the years, thanks in part to some unofficial Japanese figurines based on the characters.  

He also emphasises the importance of scary films and proclaims his love of monsters, whom he finds the most soulful and emotive of characters. The discussion concludes with Burton's work on Sweeney Todd and the juxtaposition of its beautiful music and extreme levels of blood and gore.
