Judy Maddigan was the first woman Deputy Speaker and was the first woman to be appointed the Speaker of The Legislative Assembly in Victoria in 2003. Maddigan has a strong commitment to community and was elected as a Member of Parliament to represent the Electoral District of Essendon in the Legislative Assembly in 1996. During her time as speaker Maddigan implemented many changes in the 150 year old parliament to improve the lives of workers and also public accessibility. She is a librarian at heart and is currently the Member for Essendon. |
