Keep up with the competition – experience the recent films by the competing filmmakers at Cannes.
With the 79th Cannes Film Festival fast approaching, we're spotlighting past works by the filmmakers selected to screen in competition. Get up to speed with their recent films so you can hit the ground running when the fresh crop of Cannes films land on Australian shores.
Our program begins with Pedro Almodóvar's short film The Human Voice, which premiered during the COVID-19 pandemic and sadly has not enjoyed a moment on the big screen in Melbourne. We'll present the theatrical premiere of the work starring the very stylish Tilda Swinton in a short adaptation of Jean Cocteau's play.
The Cannes Competitors season also includes rare opportunities to see R.M.N. directed by Romanian New Wave director Cristian Mungiu, who previously won the coveted Palme d'Or, as well as Evil Does Not Exist by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi.
Join us in the cinema as we keep up with the competitors and prepare for some truly remarkable films coming your way.
