A solitary cat must team up with an unlikely pack in order to survive a great flood in this animated masterpiece which won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

Curator Statement:

After a devastating flood wipes out his home, a solitary cat drifts across the vast, waterlogged landscape on a small sailboat. Along the way, he must team up with an unlikely pack – a Labrador, a capybara, a lemur and a secretary bird – each with their own instincts and survival methods, who must learn to coexist in order to survive. Told entirely without dialogue, the audience is taken on a perilous journey as they navigate the challenges and dangers to adapting to their new world.

Created by a tiny team of animators on a miniscule budget, the making of the film itself is an unlikely story of triumph against the odds. Rendered entirely on free open-source 3D software Blender, the film has since defied industry expectations – premiering at Cannes Film Festival, winning over 50 awards and recently securing the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
