About CHARGE! Agincourt by Back to Back Theatre
Back to Back Theatre reimagines Shakespeare’s Henry V in Agincourt, a powerful new screen work that asks us to see the soldiers beyond the armour. England’s king faces impossible odds at the Battle of Agincourt, yet with words alone rallies his weary troops. This retelling explores not only the extremities of war, but also the humanity of those who fight it.
Directed by Bruce Gladwin with cinematography by Rhian Hinkley, Agincourt joins the long line of cinematic takes on Henry V—from Olivier and Branagh to The King. Performed by Back to Back’s acclaimed ensemble of actors perceived to have intellectual disabilities, with contributions from more than 100 community members, it offers a strikingly fresh perspective on a timeless story.
