Join us for a free screening of Athina Rachel Tsangari’s enigmatic mid-career short film blending a rich Greek Gothicism with sculptural costume design.

After a mysterious game of hide-and-seek, six young women find themselves participants in a series of rituals and lessons covering desire, obedience and discipline. The group is led by an imposing mistress (Ariane Labed) who wields an unknowable power over the group.

Curator’s Note

Originally envisaged as a diptych of sorts, Athina Rachel Tsangari’s short film was released in conjunction with a projection work presented at the Barneys New York department store, which has since closed. Fashion was at the intersection of the two works; both featured the same selection of striking sculptural costumes sourced from young, avant-garde fashion designers.

The Capsule premiered at the 65th Locarno International Film Festival.
