Lav Diaz's films have been celebrated around the world for decades. He received the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival, the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival and has been nominated for and won many other awards throughout his acclaimed career.
By virtue of his films running so boldly against the commercial grain, Lav Diaz enjoys a rare place in the shadows of the cinema landscape as a true master of the art form, whose films are rarely screened outside of the film festival circuit. As evidence of this, 2026 marks the first time one of his films will have distribution in Australia.
