11-year-old Bori is the only hearing and speaking member of her family, who are all deaf. Living in a quiet seaside village, Bori finds it easy to talk with her friends, but struggles to communicate with her family through sign language.
Feeling isolated and wishing to be like the rest of her family, she even wishes to lose her hearing. In a desperate attempt, she jumps into the sea and loses consciousness; upon waking up in the hospital, she pretends to be deaf.
Through her loneliness and growing pains, Bori’s story sensitively portrays her journey to accept both herself and her family, as she finds her own way to bridge their differences. This is a heartfelt coming-of-age film about belonging and understanding.
