The second film in Dag Johan Haugerud’s Oslo Trilogy, Dreams is a provocative exploration of first love, power imbalance and creative catharsis through writing.
"Elegantly styled, sensitively acted and crafted with keen intelligence."
After developing a crush on her French teacher, 17-year-old Johanne documents her experiences and emotions in creative writing to preserve her feelings.
When her mother and grandmother read her account, they are initially shocked by its contents but soon see that the work has literary potential. As the three women debate whether to publish it, they confront their differing views on love, sexuality and self-discovery.
Dreams won the Golden Bear for best film at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival.
