Featuring a large ensemble cast led by Tony Leung Ka-Fai and Simon Yam as two opposing gang leaders engaged in a vicious struggle for power, To’s defining film brought a fresh perspective to the Hong Kong crime genre with its sobering, unromanticised view of the criminal underworld and the corruption within it.

Often cited as To’s magnum opus, the film premiered in competition at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival and went on to become a success in Hong Kong and around the world. Winner of Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Screenplay at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
