Set in a gaylaxy far, far away, this is the multi-award-winning Australian animated musical rom-com of your rainbow alphabet dreams. Introverted and anxiety-ridden, Saira’s only escape from the burden of being heir to her planet’s throne is her thrilling new love: aggressively extroverted bounty hunter Kiki the Destroyer. Unfortunately for Saira, Kiki’s just dumped her … and unfortunately for Kiki, she’s just been abducted by a gang of marauding incels known as the Straight White Maliens, and only her now ex-girlfriend can save her! But to win Kiki’s freedom, and hopefully her love, Saira must face an even scarier enemy: her own self-doubt. Following its Adelaide Film Festival Audience Award win by landing with a bang at the Berlinale, where it scooped up the prestigious Teddy Award for Best Feature, this independent debut feature from South Australian writer/directors and real-life girlfriends Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese has cult classic written all over it. Not only a vibrantly animated, rapid-fire joke cannon with a terrific local voice cast including Shabana Azeez, Gemma Chua-Tran, Richard Roxburgh, Aunty Donna, Madeleine Sami and Jordan Raskopoulos, Lesbian Space Princess is also a heartwarming inter-gay-lactic journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance and self-love. “Frequently hilarious, the film also has a lot of heart … This is the queer animated sci-fi musical comedy you’ve been looking for.” – The Queer Review
