A sonic journey through the music genres and musicians that created movements, defined generations and became your favourite band T-shirt.
Music is, for many of us, a signal to the world that tells people who we are. What we listen to as we figure out the person we want to be can become a transformative experience. This is also true when we talk about music as a cultural and social force. From fanning the flames of political uprisings to creating whole ecosystems linked by fashion, attitude and social cliques, music can say a lot about our society while connecting people and creating a vivid picture of a specific moment in time.
Music Documented explores the way music creates subcultures and leads trends. In this collection of films, we look at the ways these artists and movements tapped into the zeitgeist, spoke to us, galvanised us, made us dance and cemented their place in music history. You might recognise yourself in these pockets of pop culture moments, or tune into an unspoken frequency that calls to you and lets you know that you’ve found your tribe.
