Sun 21 Jun 2026

Come join us for the red carpet closing night of the National Indian Film Festival of Australia (NIFFA) 2026 Melbourne edition.

Anurag Kashyap’s Indian crime thriller film Bandar (internationally titled Monkey In A Cage) follows Samar (Bobby Deol), an aging and fading television star. His life spirals out of control when his ex-girlfriend, Gayatri (Sanya Malhotra), accuses him of rape after he cuts off contact. Arrested and thrown into a deeply flawed and corrupt legal system, Samar struggles to prove his innocence while navigating public judgment and digital age social media backlash.

Inspired by real life events, the film is produced by Nikhil Dwivedi and written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee
