A delirious and deliriously camp haunted house story that plays like Scooby-Doo on acid.
In this hallucinatory masterwork, a school girl along with six classmates travel to her ailing aunt’s secluded and definitely haunted country house. What unfolds is a wild and visually inventive tale of evil spirits, haunted pianos and disembodied ghost heads.
Director Nobuhiko Ôbayashi uses every visual trick in the book from cut-and-paste collages, to animation and freaky surreal imagery to discombobulate the viewer one demonic house cat at a time. A true original and non-stop delight, not to be missed on the big screen.
