Eldridge Cleaver: Black Panther
Agit-prop cinema portraiture that hints at a more volatile reality beyond the frame, this film follows American civil rights leader and Black Panther member Eldridge Cleaver in exile in Algeria as a fugitive from a (contested) murder charge in the US.

Never a believer in the objective lens, Klein's 'direct cinema' approach to his subject delivers a snapshot of the peculiarities of place, politics and ego under pressure.

Screens with an extract from Loin du Vietnam (20 mins, France, 1970), Klein's American segment from the collaborative French anti-Vietnam War protest film.
