Marie Craven was a member of the varied and active Melbourne Super 8 Film Group in the 1980s, and produced several visceral, experimental works. Maidenhead, her first work on 35mm, marks her move into narrative filmmaking in the 90s. The film portrays a string of dream-like and hazy events in the life of a young woman named Alice, who must fend for herself in an increasingly bewildering and threatening world.
