Frequently Asked Questions – Disney: The Magic of Animation

At ACMI, we can’t answer ticketing questions over the phone. Instead, if you have a question, you’ll need to submit it online.

We'll do our best to get back to you quickly, but if your question is about an event that's starting within 12 hours, we can't guarantee that we'll be able to respond in time.

Of course, our onsite Ticket Desk is open during museum operating hours so if you're nearby you can always pop in and visit us in person. We’ll be happy to help.

What follows are some frequently asked questions (FAQs). Maybe you’ll find the answer to your question here.

I would like to exchange my tickets for Disney: The Magic of Animation for another day and/or time. Can I do that?

Most of the time, we can move your Disney tickets to a new date and/or time.

If you’re not an ACMI Member, we charge you $2.50 for this transaction (not $2.50 per ticket). If you want to go ahead with an exchange, just let us know exactly the date and time you’d like your tickets moved to. That way we can swap you straight away.

If you ask for a swap, we can’t send the new tickets to you. Instead, you’ll need to collect them in person from the Ticket Desk and pay the $2.50 transaction fee there.

Ticket exchanges must be completed in advance of the session start time. We can’t exchange tickets for an event that’s in the past.

My child is 3 years old. Do they need a ticket?

No. Children under 4 are free. They don’t need a ticket.

How do I buy Family tickets?

Simply select the number of people in your family and add to the cart.

Note - a family of 4 or 5 is the set price of $72, the discount will be applied once you have added the 5 tickets to your cart.

Remember, each Family must include at least one Child of 4 to 15 years of age. If there’s no such Child in your group, then select the Group price instead.

What is a Companion ticket?

The Companion Card program enables eligible people with lifelong disability to get out and about without incurring the cost of a second ticket for their companion. More information about the Companion Card program can be found here.

If you have a Companion Card, you can book a free ticket for your Companion online but you’ll need to collect them in person at the Ticket Desk and present your Companion Card when doing so.

What concession cards do you accept?

You can buy Concession tickets for ACMI programs at discount prices if you have the following cards and they’re not out of date:

  • Health Care Card (issued by Centrelink)
  • Student (Australian and International)
  • Senior (Australian and International)
  • Pensioner (Pension Card holders and TPI Card holders, Department of Veteran Affairs)
  • Carer Card

There are some other cards held by members of various screen culture organisations. The list is long and if you’re not sure if your organisation is on it, just ask us. We’ll let you know.

Please note, if you're buying Concession tickets online, you must have your card with you when you visit and present it if asked.
