ACMI School Workshop, Film, and Talk Excursion Information
We look forward to seeing you at ACMI
Due to the Department of Education's new requirements, schools must provide contact details for each individual student to expedite contact-tracing, so that individuals can be contacted if the school is closed.
Please print the following off the following document and bring a completed copy on the day of your excursion in order to gain entrance:
While at ACMI teachers are responsible for, and have duty of care, for their students. We suggest students visit in small groups, and always remain within view of a teacher or other adult from your school.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your booked time at the Federation Square entrance at the School Meeting Point outside. Please look for the blue flag which looks like this:
One of our friendly staff will greet you and take you inside.
COVID-safe visit guidelines
We’re following advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer about how to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Here are some of the measures we have in place – things that you can do – to keep teachers, students, other visitors and our staff safe:
- Booked timed entrance visits. Due to current regulations, we are unable to allow access to schools who have not booked ahead.
- Arrive at our Flinders Street entrance on the day of your booking and meet our staff/volunteer at the green flag marked School meeting point.
- On arrival, teachers scan the QR code for contact tracing purposes. (Teachers must maintain a list of names and contact numbers of the students who attended on the day for contact tracing purposes.)
- Where possible maintain at least 1.5m distance between yourself and others.
- Please wear a mask when you can't maintain 1.5m distance from others.
- Regular hand hygiene.
Other measures include enhanced cleaning throughout the museum, and hand sanitiser on all levels.
If one of your students is feeling unwell on the day of the excursion, we request that they stay home and visit ACMI another day.
Arriving by bus?
Buses can drop off students at the extension of Russell St, at Federation Square. Please note there is no bus parking in this area.
Arriving by train or tram?
Head to Flinders St Station and cross the road to Federation Square. Walk to Federation Square and then head to the right past the stage and up to the Federation Square entrance of ACMI where you will see the blue flag.
Student lunches and bags
Please leave school bags at home. We provide a very limited number of trolleys to store lunch tubs until lunchtime. Federation Square has lunch spots suitable for all weather, and Hero at ACMI is available if you'd like to buy lunch or snacks.
Risk Management Documents
Emergency Management procedures cannot be supplied for Federation Square as it’s public space and cannot be shared with with the public. However, please be advised our ACMI and Fed Square Staff are trained with all emergency procedures and are the fire wardens on the day.
Schools or the public aren't given a specific fire safety briefing except to listen to staff directives on the day.
