Viva Varda ACMI IN ASSOCIATION WITH SYDNEY FILM FESTIVAL AND THE NATIONAL FILM AND SOUND ARCHIVE PRESENT

Varda in the USA

In the late 1960s, Agnès Varda accompanied her husband, Jacques Demy, to California, and began to explore the USA through her own lens.

Suddenly enamoured of The Golden State, she returned many times between 1967 and 1981 to direct some of her most fascinating films.

Uncle Yanco (1967), Black Panthers (1968), Lions Love (...And Lies) (1969), Mur Murs (1981), and Documenteur (1981) all screen in the season Viva Varda.

Ahead of the screening of Lions Love (...and Lies), join writer and editor Annabel Brady-Brown, Kristy Matheson and guests for a discussion about Agnès Varda's work in the U.S.A.

Please note: this talk will take place at The Capitol while ACMI at Fed Square is closed for redevelopment.
