Autobiography of a Princess
“A delicate satire illuminated by appreciation for lost civilizations”
The daughter of an Indian Maharaja (Madhur Jaffrey), long-divorced and living in self-enforced exile in London, keeps an annual appointment with her father's former secretary, Cyril ‘Sahib’ (James Mason) to mark the anniversary of her father’s death. The pair watch vintage newsreels and reminisce about their former lives in Royal India; their contrasting accounts – hers, nostalgic, his, less sentimental – filtered through subjective memories of a vanished world.
