Middle Earth: Shadow of War Creative Director Neil Huxley discusses making the leap from Motion Designer to Director.

We regularly hear from big names about how they came to direct their first feature films, but it’s not often we hear from the creative directors behind AAA game trailers, major visual effects projects and opening titles for the films we love. Neil Huxley talks about taking the leap from motion design and art direction to directing the monumental interactive game trailer for Middle Earth: Shadow of War from Warner Brothers.

About Neil Huxley

Neil is a writer, director and storyteller specialising in digital and virtual production media from live action to real-time game engines. Emmy nominated, his work has amassed millions of views online globally. Neil’s experience in post-production and VFX led him to art direct the title sequence for Zach Snyder's Watchmen, before working alongside James Cameron on the blockbuster Avatar.

Neil has gone on to direct multiple FX-driven projects that include the launch trailers for many AAA games including Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Mad Max, Rise of the Tomb Raider and the Dead By Daylight franchise. His live action/CG work can be seen in trailers for Assassin’s Creed Unity and Iron Man VR, as well as several live action fight promo films for Ultimate Fighting Championship.

More recently Neil directed the epic, live action interactive film for Middle Earth: Shadow of War and is currently developing his first feature project.
