A Man Called Ove

“A touching comic crowd-pleaser... [director Hannes] Holm makes poignantly clear that…life is so much sweeter when shared with others”

Ove (Rolf Lassgård) is a widowed retiree with a short fuse who spends his days enforcing body corporate rules only he cares about. When a boisterous young family moves in next door, Ove’s deeply ingrained defences give way to outright cantankerousness. Despite getting off on the wrong foot with a heavily pregnant neighbour, Parvaneh (Swedish-Iranian actress, Bahar Pars), an understanding slowly forms between the two. Lassgård is note-perfect as the spiky, outwardly imperious Ove in a moving, yet unsentimental story about unreliable first impressions and the value of community and kindness.
