Matinees

An eclectic program of fine films for mature tastes, Matinees feature well-crafted, character-driven stories, period dramas, witty comedies, fascinating documentaries and internationally acclaimed digital restorations. Generous discounts apply for members and Seniors Card holders.

In the Winter 2018 Matinee program, we continue our spotlight on the Merchant Ivory Collection with films that explore the impact of Indian culture on Brits far from home in Shakespeare Wallah and Heat and Dust and on an exiled Indian princess – played by Indian film star and ‘80s celebrity chef, Jaffrey Madhur – in Autobiography of a Princess. We continue to bring you great international cinema drawn from the film festival circuit with films including The Desert Bride (Chile/Argentina), Return of the Hero (France) and Ice Mother (Czech Republic), alongside seasons of French charmer, Dr. Knock, starring Omar Sy, and Paul Thomas Anderson’s superb Daniel Day Lewis-starrer, Phantom Thread
