The charming town of Mêle-sur-Sarthe is in crisis. Dairy and livestock prices have plummeted due to a flood of imports and farmers are being threatened with foreclosure.
When a famous American photographer (Toby Jones) visits the area scouting for locations and chances upon 'the perfect field' to serve as a backdrop for his next project, local mayor Georges Balbuzard (The Country Doctor’s Francois Cluzet) sees an opportunity to gain national exposure for the farmers’ plight. But first he has to convince the town's residents to shed their inhibitions – and move past long-held resentments – for the greater good.
