Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) rule the sartorial roost in post-war London fashion circles, dressing royalty, movie stars and debutantes.
Women come and go in Woodcock’s strictly ordered life, providing the confirmed bachelor with inspiration and companionship on his terms. His iron grip on his emotions threatens to come undone, however, when Woodcock meets the self-possessed Alma, a young woman whose outwardly unassuming demeanour belies a steely will of her own.
