To celebrate Bruce Beresford's latest film, Ladies in Black, we'll be sitting down with Australian costume designer Wendy Cork to talk post-war fashion, and how she dressed Julia Ormond, Angourie Rice, Vincent Perez, Noni Hazelhurst and Rachael Taylor in Ladies in Black.
Wendy will offer an in-depth look into her process for translating Madeleine St John’s unforgettable characters from the page to the big screen, and there will be an opportunity to see some of her glamorous work from the film. Wendy will be joined on stage by a representative from RMIT School of Fashion & Textiles and published author and vintage clothing collector Nicole Jenkins who will look more broadly at the fashion scene in Australia, the rapidly changing fashion world in post-war Australia and the stirrings of the women's liberation movement.
Having designed costumes for more than 40 film and television productions, Wendy Cork’s credits include the UK mini-series Indian Summers, starring Julie Walters; the series Banished, a Jimmy McGovern drama about the First Fleet’s arrival at Sydney Cove starring David Wenham, Russell Tovey and Ryan Corr; Winchester starring Helen Mirren and The Olivia-Newton John Story biopic to name a few. Her work can also be seen in the second season of Secret City for Matchbox Pictures, and she also designed costumes for the Rockstar game L.A. Noire for the PlayStation platform.
In conjunction with Sony Pictures Releasing.
