To celebrate Melbourne International Games Week we have special guest Victoria Tran joining us to talk about her experience in the industry. We'll also have the opportunity to play two Kitfox games – Moon Hunters and upcoming 'shack-and-slash' Boyfriend Dungeon.
Victoria Tran is the communications director at Kitfox Games, a small indie team in Montreal, Canada known for creating intriguing worlds like Boyfriend Dungeon, Lucifer Within Us, and Moon Hunters. Additionally, they are publishing Dwarf Fortress and Six Ages to Steam. When Victoria's not exploring ways to create kinder game community spaces, she loves discussing the role of fashion in games. Because she seems to hate free time, she also writes for Peachbutt Comics (a webcomic about game development culture), does community consultations, and co-organises various local game events/grassroots meetups.
About the club
Wish you had a book club for videogames? Now you do.
Join our monthly talk and play meetup to make new friends, share your love of new releases, geek out over old favourites and be part of a safe and inclusive community.
NB: In order to create a safe space for under-represented people in the world of videogames, this club is exclusively for women, GNC, trans and non-binary folks. If you're a cis man, we'd love to welcome you at another games event. Find out what's coming up here.
What to expect
This event runs from 6pm to 8pm. The first hour of the club is dedicated to play time (we'll have Moon Hunters and the highly anticipated Boyfriend Dungeon set up and ready to go) and the second hour in conversation with Victoria about videogames, her experiences and more!
If conversation isn't for you, you're welcome to keep playing.
Where to go
We're based out of ACMI X (Level 4, 2 Kavanagh St, Southbank).
ACMI X is located on level 4 at the Australian Ballet Centre. Take the pedestrian bridge behind Arts Centre Melbourne or enter through Kavanagh St.
