Writing for the Screen

What does it take to develop an engaging story for the screen?

In our Writing for the Screen program, students develop their ideation, story development and screenwriting skills to develop ideas into screen-ready stories.

A combination of video conferences and online modules will help participants to develop and refine their existing knowledge of screen language, build critical thinking around film analysis, develop tools for pitching ideas and learn the craft of screenwriting.

The program has three strands for Years 5-6, 7-8 and 9-11. Each strand focuses on delivering collaborative learning with reference to relevant English and Media Arts curriculum and is delivered by ACMI and creative industries experts.

This program is part of the Department of Education's Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series and is open and free to Government school students with a keen interest and understanding of storytelling, writing, screenwriting or film.

Student registration must come from a teacher or a school higher-abilities coordinator. If you're a parent of a student or are a student wanting to self-register, please speak with your school about registering, or contact ACMI Education at education@acmi.net.au to find out more.
