A Jane Eyre 2019 Burgundy lunch at Hero

Hero's GM of Wine, Philip Rich presents a lunch that is set to be one of the wine events of the year.

Sit through a relaxed lunch and explore nine wines from Jane's collection focusing on the Burgundy region, enhanced by a specially curated shared menu by Karen Martini.

Growing up in Gippsland, working as a hairdresser, then getting a job at Prince Wine Store whilst studying for a winemaking degree part time, landed Jane in Burgundy where she has been living and making wine since 2006. It’s been an incredible journey and earlier this year, all the hard work paid off when Jane became the first Australian/woman, to be named negociant of the year by the influential French wine magazine, La Revue du Vin de France.

Unfortunately, Jane, who is normally in Australia for six weeks during vintage making her Australian Pinots (from the Yarra, Mornington and Tasmania) cannot be here. Luckily nobody (apart from Jane of course) knows Jane’s journeys or the wines as well as Philip Rich - Hero’s GM of Wine – who will be hosting this great line-up focusing on 2019 red burgundies.

Philip gave Jane her first fulltime job in 1998 at Prince Wine Store and also imported Jane’s wine to Australia for many years, with regular visits to Burgundy to catch up with Jane and taste the new wines in barrel.

Apart from the 2019 red burgundies – from a delicious Cote de Nuits Village to village wines, premier crus from the Cote de Beaune and Vote de Nuit and a Grand Cru Corton Bressandes (one of only 12 bottles that came into Australia); the lunch will also feature her Beaujolais Fleurie 2019, one of her Australian Pinots and a Cote du Jura Chardonnay 2018 that she makes with the legendary Jean Francois Ganevat in his cellars in the Jura.
