Badminton star Susi Susanti rises through the ranks and overcomes adversity to become Indonesia's most beloved athlete.

We’d also like to show Susi’s nationalism to the millennials, along with her struggles and love for her family, God and the country.

Dion Wiyoko

Susi Susanti has loved badminton since the age of 14 and has grown to become the most beloved athlete in Indonesia. Under the guidance of her coach, Liang Chiu Sia, and driven by a promise to her father, Susi gained international recognition for winning the first Olympic gold medal for Indonesia. When economic turmoil occurs, Susi uses the opportunity to show her country and the world that heroism is not measured by the height of one's success, but by the depth of one's sacrifice – all of this is supported by Susi's love for God, family, badminton, her life partner, and Indonesia.
