Our monthly program of Australian cinema returns with screenings of Rachel Perkins' lyrical outback operetta, One Night the Moon, to mark the twentieth anniversary of the film's release.
One Night the Moon gets right under the skin of the Australian experience.
Adapted from a true story dating back to the early 1930s, One Night the Moon takes the form of a lyrical and atmospheric bush operetta to tell a tale of enchantment, tragedy and clashing worldviews.
Paul Kelly, Kev Carmody and Mairead Hannan's searingly evocative lyrics and score propel the action, with Kelly a haunting screen presence in a cast that also features Kelton Pell, Kaarin Fairfax, Ruby Hunter, Chris Haywood and David Field.
Filmed to stunning effect on Adnyamathanha land in South Australia's Flinders Ranges.
