In this documentary, Jacques Baratier compares life in the St Germain des Pres area of Paris in the the post WWII years and 20 years later in the Sixties (pre May 68). Rare documents and seldom seen footage of personalities, “overexposed films shot in obscure places” such as ‘Le Tabou’ recreate the ambiance of the great existentialist era. The interviewees recall the social changes that led to the movement. They include: Boris Vian, Alain Vian, Roger Blin, Juliette Greco, Raymond Queneau, Jean Cau, Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, Sophie Desmarets, Jean Cocteau, Roger Pierre, Arthur Adamov, Cesar, Anne-Marie Cazalis, Michel de Re, Roger Vadim, Annabel, Gabriel Pomerand, Sydney Bechet, Claude Luter etc… This film is followed by ‘Voila l’ordre’.
