Bruno returns to Paris after serving five years in an American prison for drug trafficking. Readjustment proves difficult as he searches for work, faces his working-class father who holds his past behaviour responsible for his mother’s death, and has an affair with another ex-addict, whose drug problems are not fully resolved.
