In 1947, a relatively unknown figure became famous overnight in the fashion world.

Christian Dior had just invented the New Look, a clothing line that pitched a new silhouette shape for women's clothing. Within a decade, the New Look had revolutionised the industry.

Filmmaker Dominque Adt talks to former Dior model Victoire Poutrelau, Marie-France Pochna (one of Dior's biographers) and legendary fashion curator of the Louvre Museum, Pamela Golbin to discover the design DNA created by this extraordinary man. In just over a decade, Dior set down the rules on which subsequent designers Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano and most recently Raf Simons have borrowed from to make Dior one of the most successful fashion brands of all time.

This is the film's Australian premiere.

In French and English with English subtitles.

Screens with a selection of finalists from the Virgin Australian Melbourne Fashion Festival short film competition.
