When
Mon 29 Jun – Fri 3 Jul 2026
A young, rainbow-suited boy breaks the rules and travels back to the past in Ugo Bienvenu's emotional Oscar-nominated adventure.
Ten-year-old Arco is impatient to turn twelve. Children under that age aren't allowed to fly and travel back in time, and Arco has to wait at home while his parents and older sister go on adventures without him. When his impatience turns into mischievousness, Arco borrows his sister's rainbow-coloured flying suit and takes to the skies.
When he crash-lands in the year 2075, almost nine hundred years in the past, he finds himself alone and unable to return home until a new friend comes to his rescue.
Curator's note
Hollywood films give young protagonists a lot of agency. They often need to solve enormous otherworldly problems, sometimes even saving the world. Arco feels different. There's undoubtedly a big adventure here, but also a gentle message throughout the film that kids need their parents for love, support and protection and we shouldn't take them for granted.
It's a sweet message, and one that might earn parents who take their kids to the film a quiet cuddle afterwards.
