Crown and Country

When

Fri 24 Jul 2026

Hosted in the Listening Room of the Reverb exhibition, these after-hours sessions will feature a different artist each session. Curated by Yasmine Sharaf from RISING and Robin Fox from MESS.

Crown and Country is a First Nations album from the remote desert community of Lajamanu NT, in the North Tanami Desert. Released in August 2025, it features storytelling by senior Warlpiri elder, Wanta Jampijinpa Pawu-Kurlpurlurnu, and ceremonial singing by his father, Jerry Jangala Patrick OAM, the oldest living Warlpiri songman. Composer and music producer Monkey Marc (MWNCI) will be the host of this session, introducing the album and playing an exclusive dubplate of a track from Crown and Country album two.

Crown and Country is foremost sharing profound Warlpiri knowledge, while also offering listeners the opportunity to experience the point of view of a deep friendship and respect between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
