William Kentridge (b. Johannesburg, South Africa, 1955) is internationally acclaimed for his drawings, films, theatre and opera productions. Kentridge’s method combines drawing, writing, film, performance, music, theatre, and collaborative practices to create works of art that are grounded in politics, science, literature and history, yet maintaining a space for contradiction and uncertainty. Kentridge’s work has been seen in museums and galleries around the world since the 1990s, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Musée du Louvre, Paris; Whitechapel Gallery, London; Louisiana Museum, Copenhagen; Kunstmuseum, Basel; Zeitz MOCAA, Capetown. In 2022, the Royal Academy in London staged a major immersive exhibition by the artist, following on from the global success of his theatrical work The Head & the Load. The Vinyl Factory first partnered with Kentridge to release the soundtrack to his 2013 film Second-hand Reading, with music by South African singer Neo Muyanga. In 2019, The Vinyl Factory released a musical soundtrack from The Head & the Load, composed by Philip Miller and Thuthuka Sibisi, with a signed art print by Kentridge, titled Kaboom!
