Rather than dodge complicated themes about race and identity, the film grapples head-on with the issues affecting modern-day black life.
This exciting Afrofuturist film took the world by storm on its release in 2018. Set in the isolated kingdom of Wakanda, Black Panther imagines an independent, technologically-advanced African society untouched by colonialism. Its central dilemma, played out between the new king T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and his challenger Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), is between protecting this nation from destructive outside forces and using the country's precious vibranium to liberate Black people across the globe.
