The Holdovers VCE film program

Introduce your students to this moving and funny exploration of class, privilege, and makeshift family.

This program includes a screening of the film, a short break, and a 60-minute lecture focusing on context, characterisation, themes and filmmaking techniques, particularly the film's 1970s look and feel.

This program is available from Mon 2 Nov 2026, and Semester 1 2027 sessions are now available.

To make a new booking, a minimum of 50 students is required.

English subtitles are available for this film.

Descriptive subtitles are available (English dialogue and text description of audio) for the hard of hearing. Cinemas are wheelchair accessible.

Free hearing devices are available, including hearing loops (for hearing aids) and headphones for the hard of hearing. These devices connect with cinema audio for both film and lecture. AD (Audio Description channel) is also available for this film.
