Creating change: social message making workshop

Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series

When

Thu 30 Apr - Thu 22 Oct 2026

10am - 2pm

Students develop key media literacy skills by learning to analyse, interpret and understand media messages.

Learning tasks include deconstructing media campaigns to uncover: Who is creating the message; Why the message is being made; How the message is constructed. The SunSmart campaign, featured in the ACMI museum, serves as the central case study guiding the media literacy discussion and informing related activities.

Students then apply their learning in a workshop setting, where they work in small groups to plan, design, and produce their own media messages on a significant topic. They are also introduced to moving image techniques, including storyboarding, camera and sound recording skills, and editing.

This program builds students’ media literacy through a balance of analysis and creative production, connecting directly with the Victorian Curriculum across Levels 4–6 in English and Media Arts.

All Student must register through a school.
