On 26 January, ACMI celebrates the diverse communities, cultures and achievements of contemporary Australia. Today is also acknowledged as Survival Day: a moment to honour the enduring strength and resilience of Australia’s First Peoples, one of the world’s oldest living cultures. As we reflect on our shared history, we recognise the longstanding connection between First Peoples’ storytelling – which has harnessed light and shadow for thousands of years – and their contribution to Australian film, TV and games.
