Sabine Brix

Summer–Autumn (2022–23) Brand Reel

Sabine Brix is a Naarm/Melbourne-based electronic music producer, composer, DJ and writer whose work acts as a lens through which to explore the human condition.  Her composition work has screened on SBS (Starting from Now web series) and aired on the BBC’s Radio 4 program.

As a music producer, Sabine releases under the moniker Brixx, a project that allows her to explore a love of cult cinema, electronic body music, new beat, techno and electro.

Sabine Brix

She has released music on French labels, Parfé and Filatures Records and in 2021 was awarded a grant through the Melbourne City Council’s inaugural Flash Forward music program to produce an EP through Heavy Machinery Records, which culminated in the work: Conversion Therapy. Rather than a narrative about repression or a forced change in sexual orientation, this release celebrates queer identity and captures the vivacity of electronic music at the turn of the 1990s while referencing queer cinema.

In her current practice, Sabine works with a range of hardware, but has an affinity for synthesizers and drum machines from the 1980s. She is thankful that MESS exists.
