Take part in an epic, cinematic surround sound event weaving together live experimental music, short video and your mobile phone.

For Those Who Wait, Martine Corompt and Camilla Hannan

From a state of pleasant expectation to moderate irritation to wretched anxiety, we are increasingly finding ourselves in a state of waiting – whether it be waiting for something to start or for something to end. Weaving together a combination of live experimental music, short video and audience mobile phones, you will take part in recreating an archetypal cinematic motif and become part of an epic surround sound event.

THX Deep Note is considered one of the most recognisable sonic identities in the world used to herald the beginning of a feature film; but in this event, using your own mobile phone as a musical instrument, you will contribute to a rapturous reinvention of this famous score accompanied by the ethereal strains of Melbourne’s Overtone Ensemble. Your wait will then be over!

For Those Who Wait is an immersive participatory event where we contemplate the act of waiting. This project is the latest in a series of sound/image collaborations between artists Camilla Hannan and Martine Corompt with a music composition by Melbourne experimental quartet the Overtones and narrated by Melbourne actor Todd Levi.

Sessions run at 12pm, 1pm & 2pm, and last approximately 15 minutes.

This project is supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants.
