Bill and Ted in an improv workshop in 1983. The rest is history, dudes.
The film’s sci-fi/comedy premise is that unless Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) pass their final history exam, they’ll be forced to break up their band Wyld Stallyns. Insert a time machine and we’re cooking with gas.
Slated for a straight to video release, the film got a serious cash injection at the final hour and made its way onto the big screen.
Directed by Stephen Herek, who went on to make iconic early 90s teens movies Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead and The Mighty Ducks, Bill & Ted Excellent Adventure is now, ironically, a time capsule of late 80s awesomeness.
Winter and Reeves reprise their roles for a soothing trip down nostalgia lane in Bill & Ted Face the Music, scheduled to hit Australian cinemas (outside Victoria) September 10.
