Mother-daughter acting powerhouses Tilda Swinton and Honor Swinton Byrne co-star in the sequel to Joanna Hogg’s semi-autobiographical masterpiece.
It's one of the most beautiful and extraordinary films of the year.
In 1980s London, film student Julie (Honor Swinton Byrne) is picking up the pieces in the aftermath of her disastrous relationship with the enigmatic Anthony (Tom Burke). As she painfully re-evaluates what she understood about their life together, she throws herself into her graduation film, using it as a tool to intimately process her grief.
Curator's Note
Beautifully expanding on Julie’s personal and creative coming-of-age journey, The Souvenir Part II is an exquisite concluding chapter that also stands alone as a singular piece. Mother-daughter cast members – Tilda Swinton and Honor Swinton Byrne – are joined by Ariane Labed (Flux Gourmet), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) and Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd) returning as director Patrick.
The Souvenir Part II made its world premiere as part of Director's Week at Cannes before arriving on Australian screens in March.
