ACMI & ABC Present

The Newsreader: Season 2 + Q&A

Big Screen Premiere

Australia | 2023 | Unclassified (15+)

This event has ended and tickets are no longer available.

Join us in the cinema for the highly anticipated second season of ABC’s multi-award winning drama followed by a Q&A for key cast and crew.

A year on from the events of the first season, we meet Helen Norville (Anna Torv) and Dale Jennings (Sam Reid), now established as ‘The Golden Couple of News’. To the outside world, they present a glowing image of success and romance, but the truth is more complex. As 1987 rolls along, global stocks will soar and crash, Australia will prepare to celebrate its Bicentennial year, and Helen and Dale grapple with who they really want to be in life and whether that path can be together.

Anna Torv (The Last of Us) and Sam Reid (Interview with the Vampire) are joined once again by Robert Taylor, William McInnes, Michelle Lim Davidson, Chum Ehelepola, Stephen Peacocke, Marg Downey and Chai Hansen. And, joining this stellar ensemble is Daniel Gillies (The Originals), Rory Fleck Byrne (This Is Going To Hurt), Philippa Northeast (In Limbo) and Hunter Page-Lochard (Barons, Fires).

Following the screening we'll be joined on stage by series creator, writer and producer Michael Lucas, Producer Joanna Werner, Sam Reid who stars as Dale Jennings, Marg Downey who stars as Evelyn Walters and series director Emma Freeman.

The highly anticipated, second season of ABC’s six-part, multi-award winning drama, The Newsreader premieres Sunday 10 September at 8:30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.
